3 Day Weekend?

Britain's workforce? Now, on a normal weekday morning, it takes me about an hour to drive the 30 mile journey to work. This is mainly because of traffic on the Stafford Road and round Wolverhampton Ring Road. This morning – like any other Friday morning – it only took me about 40 minutes. Normally, once i come off the M54 at junction 2, it is solid traffic from the traffic lights by the cash and carry, right the way to the island on the ring road by the Novotel. Friday mornings the road is always clear from the M54 all the way to the ring road, where i may get held up for a maximum of 5 minutes in traffic. Why is this? Do people just simply not work on Fridays any more? Where do I apply for one of those jobs?

For the few that do actually make it to work, Friday seems to be a stroll in the park day. From my desk I look right out over the car park for our office block. Come 3pm, the only cars remaining on the car park are the ones that belong to people working in our office, and ones that have been left by the early finishers who have gone to the pub.

These people can’t argue flexi-time either. When i arrive at work in the morning, the car park is deserted. When i leave at the end of my days work, it is deserted. These people are simply working about a 13 hour week! Is this now the norm? Are my company simply being slave drivers by expecting us to work 5 full days a week? I don’t know, but what I do know is that i am very, very jealous.
